Doors Open Milwaukee

Greetings Milwaukee!

Doors Open Mr Milwaukee

While traveling around our city, have you ever noticed a building or particular neighborhood that piqued your interest and you thought “I wonder what that looks like inside,” or “I wish I knew the history of that place?”  Well, you are in luck, my friend!

Taking place this coming Saturday and Sunday, Doors Open invites the public to tour over 170 sites around the Milwaukee area, with tour offerings ranging from modern skyscrapers to picturesque churches to some of Milwaukee’s classic landmarks.  With a mix of old favorites and exciting new buildings to choose from, this annual event hosted by Historic Milwaukee, INC. has become a Milwaukee must.  While most of the tours are open to the public, Doors Open also offers some ticketed activities including walking tours of select neighborhoods and historic buildings.  The extremely helpful website allows visitors to explore tour offerings via an interactive map, and features a number of different filters to customize your itinerary.  This is a huge improvement over the antiquated days when one had to scroll through all the listings and jot down your own schedule!

Interested in checking out some Doors Open locations, but not sure if a place is accessible?  Fear not, Doors Open has you covered!  The website allows you to filter locations by accessibility, offering fully accessible and 1st floor only options.  The vast majority of attractions listed have at least some degree of accessibility.

I’ve got my itinerary set.  Do you?
